Japan – The Saga of a Nation

Friends had invited me to the evening and honestly I didn’t really know beforehand what to expect. What I especially liked was that Japan wasn’t portrayed through anime and co alone.

A wondrous journey through the history and tradition of Japan. The ambience was lovely, subtly Japanese without ever feeling kitschy. The interplay of koto music and the narrator felt perfectly harmonious to me.

The Loreley hall was charmingly decorated, as always. The musical accompaniment of the evening was magical. The content was exactly what makes Japanophile hearts beat faster. Points off for the very Western pronunciation of Japanese terms.

It was a very interesting and informative experience. The history of Japan was told with so much feeling and from different perspectives, which made it feel really alive alongside the music. A great experience, thank you.
